Antique Texas & Pacific Railway Company bill of lading dated 1896, featuring a detailed printed railroad map on the reverse.
The front contains the railway’s printed shipping terms, freight-rate columns, handwritten blue entries, and a purple agent stamp. The reverse is titled “Map of the Texas & Pacific Ry. and Connecting Lines,” showing numerous cities, railway routes, and connections across the United States and Mexico, along with the Gulf of Mexico and Cuba.
Based on our reading, the handwritten date is believed to be September 16, 1896, with New Orleans listed as the originating station. Other handwritten names, destination details, and shipment wording have not been confidently deciphered. These interpretations are offered to the best of our ability; please examine the photographs for the actual wording.
The map depicts the railway network and connecting lines; it does not by itself establish that this particular shipment traveled internationally.
CONDITION:
Age-related toning, folds, creasing, scattered marks, edge tears, and small areas of paper loss, particularly near the upper corners. Some handwriting and printing show through to the opposite side. The map remains clearly visible, with much of the edge damage in the surrounding margins. Please review all photographs for condition.
