Offered is an original antique bank check from McCornick & Co. Bankers, Salt Lake City, Utah, dated September 17, 1896.
The check was written for $25.00 and retains its handwritten entries and signature. It has a prominent red McCornick & Co. PAID cancellation stamp dated September 17, 1896, along with two distinctive star-shaped cancellation punches.
McCornick & Co. was one of Salt Lake City’s important early banking firms. Period sources confirm the bank was operating in Salt Lake City during 1896, making this an attractive piece of late-19th-century Utah banking history.
