1895 J F Leavitt Letter Twin Mountain NH Logging Lumbermans Handles Ephemera For Sale

Original 1895 business letter that offers a phenomenal, first-hand look into the late 19th-century New England timber boom and the fierce commercial competition of the era. Written on gorgeous graphic letterhead from J. F. Leavitt, dated March 5th, 1895. In the letter, Leavitt—who was also the prominent Town Clerk and Treasurer of Carroll, NH—writes urgently to the O. P. Berry Co. in Contoocook, NH, to secure a trial order of 5 dozen 36-inch "Lumbermans Handles." Leavitt eagerly explains that he has a golden opportunity to win the business of a local logging outfit with "100 men in the woods" who are looking to switch from their current $1.87 "Hazletine Handles." Packed with fantastic industry context, local genealogy interest, and exceptional crossover appeal for White Mountains history buffs and antique tool collectors, this late-Victorian manuscript is a stellar addition to any ephemera collection.Reads as follows --- J.
