1894 Staunton VA Hayseeds MLB Louisville Colonel Win Clark Baseball Cabinet Card For Sale

1890’s Win Clark cabinet card published by E Berkeley of Staunton Virginia. Win played for the Staunton Hayseeds during his first pro baseball season. He went on to play and manage baseball in the state of Virginia pretty much for the rest of his long career. Win played one MLB season. He played for Louisville. Win was born in the eastern part of Pennsylvania. It’s been awhile since I’ve read up on his life’s story, but I believe he had Virginia ties before baseball. Win has two claims to fame in baseball besides his days as a Virginia baseball pioneer and later as president of the National Baseball Players Association. Win’s baseball career nearly ended early to a beaning, but to top that he was also stabbed by a teammate during his playing days. Win was stabbed by the alcohol fueled brother of Chief Bender. He never pressed charges. Card measures a little less than 5 by 7 inch in size. Stains, toning and wear. Feel free to ask questions.
