From an old California estate: One (1) antique late 19th century brass and copper fire nozzle. Stamped “SFFD” for the San Francisco Fire Department, and with the numerals “4” and “180”. Also, importantly, there is a tiny “94” under the fire dept. designation -- the year of manufacture, 1894. This nozzle was certainly used during the fire of the Great Earthquake of 1906. A rare, historic, and striking fire fighting artifact!Total length is 24 inches; inner-diameter at base is approximately 1 3/4 inches; inner-opening at tip is approximately 3/8 inch. Weight is 3 pounds, 8 ounces.Presumably made of brass (or bronze) and copper. Rare design with batwing-shaped valve cock switch. Overall antique condition is good for an item well over a century old. Some scuffs and scratches; dings and dents; blemishes. Beautiful burnished patina. Valve cock doesn’t turn at the moment; presumably an easy fix. No obstructions in tube.
