1889-1890This is a group of nine individual pages published over 130 years ago in separate issues of the rare Illustrated Christian Weekly paper between March, 1889, and April, 1890. The sheets measure 10.5 x 16 inches in size, and are in very good condition, with a bit of age browning.Each page presents a section titled, “The Housekeeper,” which features cooking directions for a series of either “Selected Recipes,” or “Choice Recipes.” These sections occupy between 14 and 32 column inches of text on each page, with the rest of their space devoted to ads or other “Household Hints” and similar material, including brief articles on “Chapter on Coffee Making,” “Delicate Desserts,” “Salads on the Tea Table,” and “Extra Nice Potatoes.”Among the recipes presented on these pages are ones for: oatmeal porridge; chicken salad; oyster patties; curry croquettes; rice waffles; cream puffs; Belgian gingerbread; apple omelet; Southern biscuit; macaroni with cheese; citron pudding; Delmonico stew; Genesee pudding; fish pie; and rich apple pudding.The recipes on one page are attributed to Marion Harland, and those on another page came from Anna Alexander Cameron.
