Original Victorian-era advertising trade card for Soapine, manufactured by the Kendall Mfg. Co., Providence, Rhode Island and New York City.
Front features a beautifully printed image of a young girl holding a doll. Small printer imprint at lower right reads “Donaldson Brothers, Five Points, N.Y.”
Reverse contains a substantial Soapine advertisement printed in both English and German, warning consumers against competing washing powders and promoting the company’s Soapine product. Bottom is explicitly marked “DESIGN COPYRIGHTED 1885.”
An excellent piece of late-19th-century advertising ephemera with appeal to collectors of Victorian trade cards, soap and household advertising, chromolithography, German-American material, and New York printing history.
Condition: Original antique condition with age-related wear. Corner/edge wear, small creases and surface marks are present, including wear at the lower-left corner and a crease near the upper edge. Colors and printed detail remain attractive. Please review all photos closely for exact condition.
