Original 1881 handwritten court case file from Monroe County, Mississippi.
This is a complete criminal proceeding, kept together as one packet and totaling 17 pages. It includes the formation of the grand jury, a bill of indictment, a capias (arrest writ), sheriff’s return, sworn statements, and a court-ordered change of venue. The final page is certified by the clerk and bears an embossed court seal.
All pages are handwritten in period ink and date to 1881. This is an authentic primary document, not a reproduction. Paper shows expected age wear, but the writing is clear and legible.
