1880 postmarked industrial trade acknowledgment postal card issued by the historic Washburn & Moen Manufacturing Company of Worcester, Massachusetts.
Dating from the dawn of the 1880s Gilded Age, this beautiful Victorian document comes from the world\'s premier wire manufacturing syndicate. Washburn & Moen famously pioneered the mass production of barbed wire that transformed the American West and supplied the structural steel cables required to construct the Brooklyn Bridge. The front of the card features an elegant letterpress layout formally acknowledging a business order, dated May 31, 1880, signed by a company clerk \"Per C.\", and carrying a significant handwritten fountain pen production note stating: \"Will ship at once.\"
The reverse address side is written in stunning period Spencerian script to Burt, Hildreth & Co. of Harvard, Massachusetts—a famous 19th-century agricultural machinery manufacturer and iron foundry. It features a bold, readable \"Worcester, Mass. May 31\" circular postmark alongside a dense black geometric cork killer cancellation over an integrated black 1-Cent Liberty Head printed stamp (UX7 design). The side margin also retains its original 1880 archival filing ink notation from the recipient. An outstanding museum-grade specimen for collectors of early American industrial history, heavy manufacturing memorabilia, or choice 1880s Massachusetts postal history.
