1872 Harper\'s Weekly Illus. - Horace Greeley & Civil War Andersonville Prison For Sale

Here is an original wood engraved illustration from the September 21, 1872 edition of Harper\'s Weekly. It is titled with a quote from Horace Greeley: \"Let us clasp hands over the bloody chasm.\" Greeley is depicted reaching over the graveyard at Andersonville prison in Georgia with an extended hand. Vice Presidential candidate B. Gratz Brown is represented as a piece of paper stuck to his shoe. The illustration is by Thomas Nast and measures approximately 9 3/8\" x 14.25\". There is a small edge tear on its upper left-hand corner with some water marks in places, but overall the condition is good and is suitable for framing which I\'ll leave up to you.
