Offered - Original Civil War discharge document. The document was issued to Henry Polite, H Company, 48th Regiment, United States Colored Infantry. The 48th participated in the final battle of the Civil War at Fort Blakeley, AL. The discharge shows Henry Polite as having been born in Charlotte County, North Carolina.
Age - Dated October 3rd, 1865.
Condition -Wear and discolorations, partial separations along three of the fold lines, a small portion of loss and creasing to the right edge, fragile but intact.
