IMES enlisted in the 83rd ovi april 22, 1862. IMES served in companies g and i under capt. john d. gary of seven mile ohio. the 26 year old private was mustered out in july 1865 in galveston, texas, as a member of company i. he died in 1915, a resident of s. ninth st. in hamilton ohio and is buried in greenwood cemetery hamilton.
