The document binds Livingston for the sum of $10,000, conditioned upon payment of $5,000 with lawful interest beginning May 1, 1844. Interest was due quarterly in August, November, February, and May. Beautifully handwritten with clear signatures and red wax seal, including witness signature by Stephen G. Magoun. A fine piece of 19th-century financial and legal ephemera from upstate New York. Folded docketed back panel reads “Henry W. Livingston to Alexander Robinson, Bond $5000.” Great for collectors of early American legal documents.
