This is an authentic, original 1840 William Henry Harrison Presidential Campaign Token (commonly classified by collectors as Hard Times Token HT-815 or DeWitt WHH 1840-25).This historic medalet was struck for Harrison's famous "Log Cabin and Hard Cider" campaign against Martin Van Buren, which pioneered the use of mass political merchandise in United States history.
Obverse: Features a sharp military bust of General Harrison facing left. It is sharply inscribed: MAJ: GEN: W. H. HARRISON / BORN FEB. 9. 1773. Reverse: Features the classic Log Cabin design with a cider barrel Beautiful, rich natural patina with honest wear consistent with its age.
Lettering and central bust details remain clear and highly legible. This token was cleanly holed by the manufacturer at the time of issuance in 1840 so that supporters could wear it on a ribbon or string.
