DEED POLL: JACOB KINTNER TO JOSEPH MATHIAS FOR LAND IN HILLTOWN, BUCKS COUNTY, PA. Doylestown, PA: W. T. Rogers Printer. Original 1825 Bucks County, PA deed poll for land in Hilltown Township. Single sheet of vellum or hide, measuring 19 x 15 inches, printed on both sides, with 3 embossed paper & wax seals. The document is completed in neat holograph in brown ink, and signed by Sheriff Jacob Kintner, Samuel A. Smith, Wm. Roger, C. Meredith, and John J. Benezet. One signer, Samuel A. Smith (1795-1861) served in Congress, Representing Pennsylvania for multiple terms; in addition to his militia services, he was a Judge, Justice of the Peace, Register of Wills (as here), businessman, etc. The subject of the deed, Joseph Matthias, was a missionary and preacher. The deed poll transfers over 100 acres of land in Hilltown Township, Bucks County, PA, from Ashbel Mathias to the estate of David Evans, deceased, as ordered by Sheriff Jacob Kintner. 5-line manuscript addendum on verso by Samuel A.
