The Koch Shaft was historically targeted for its unique deposits of heavy, precious-metal-bearing ores. This piece isolates a massive concentration of that sought-after mineralization:
- The Gold-Bearing Sulfides: The primary polished face is dominated by a massive, highly fractured, brassy vein of sulfides (pyrite/chalcopyrite). In the Koch Shaft, these specific sulfide structures were known historically to carry traces of gold.
