Appleton has been making high quality lighting for over 100 years, made in the 1940\'s. Released from the boiler room at the theGreen Bay Correctional Institution,these guys are just waiting to be put back to work. The condition is excellent, the best from a group of seven.The socket fitter is original and in perfect condition. I added a 1 1/4\" machined extenstion between the fitter and original Appleton socket.This places today\'s shorter bulb in the sweet-spot of the reflector. This increases illumination allowing a lesser wattage bulb if you choose. The extension also allows me to add a ground wire, pass your inspections!
These three are in \"A\" condition, very little to point out in the way of chips etc., very clean. One of them has a bit of porcelain loss on the neck at a neck transition, no big deal, (pictured). They each have the fragile water-slide decal on the neck. I have four other lights in a seperate listing that are in \"B\" or \"C\" condition for less money.
The opening is a fairly large 12\" x 16\", Uses are plenty, from illuminating both sides of a gas station pole sign to lighting signs on a wall or whatever else needs to be illuminated. The wires are 44 inches long. The gooseneck pipe is 18\" from the wall to the center of the shade. The wall-mount will fit most round or octagonal electric boxes or secure directly to the wall. A gasket and screws are included.The black band on the rim is more pronounced than most of the lights I\'ve ever owned. New gaskets in the socket and on the fitter will keep the water out.
