Museum Quality 1/35 WWII German King Tiger Diorama Battle of the Bulge • Kampfgruppe Peiper • One of a Kind

This is a fully assembled, handcrafted 1:35 scale WWII German diorama, inspired by the Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes Offensive, 1944–45).

The scene captures a moment that feels both victorious and uncertain. A King Tiger has already destroyed a Sherman, its shattered turret now lying half-submerged in the frozen water below. The immediate clash is over, but the real problem remains: the great weight of the King Tiger means that most bridges ahead cannot safely bear it.

That tension gives the diorama its center. Rather than showing movement alone, it shows decision. The commander of Kampfgruppe Peiper is forced to halt and confer with his men, weighing how the advance can continue when firepower is no longer the only concern. In that sense, the scene is not simply about destruction, but about the kind of battlefield pause in which momentum, terrain, and command judgment all meet.

The infantry figures are German Fallschirmjäger, the legendary \"Green Devils\". Their presence adds both character and historical identity to the composition, reinforcing the feeling that this is not a generic winter display, but a carefully staged moment drawn from a specific wartime situation.

This is NOT a kit and NOT a toy. It is a finished, one-of-a-kind display piece intended for serious collectors, military history enthusiasts, and high-end presentation.

Craftsmanship & Finish

The diorama combines layered snow, wet mud, reflective water, winter vegetation, damaged battlefield remains, and carefully placed figures to create a scene that feels both visually rich and believable. The weathering is handled with restraint, allowing the groundwork, armor, and figures to work together naturally without losing the clarity of the overall composition.

    Advanced weathering and aging effects
  • Layered snow, mud, and wet-ground integration
  • Realistic water surface with submerged wreck detail
  • Hand-painted figures with natural interaction
  • Balanced scenic composition for display from multiple angles

The images below are arranged to guide the viewer through the scene: first the overall composition, then the command discussion, followed by the King Tiger, the Fallschirmjäger, the bridge and surrounding winter terrain, and finally the destroyed Sherman turret that anchors the aftermath of battle.

1. Overall Scene & First Impression 2. Command Meeting & Route Planning

This section focuses on the command discussion at the center of the scene, where the advance must be reconsidered in light of the bridge obstacle ahead.

3. King Tiger – Power and Constraint

The King Tiger dominates the composition not only as a symbol of battlefield strength, but also as the very reason the route forward becomes uncertain.

4. Fallschirmjäger – The \"Green Devils\"

The Fallschirmjäger figures give the scene its human presence and help define its historical character more precisely.

5. Bridge, Terrain, and Winter Route Obstacle

The bridge and surrounding ground are not merely scenic details. They are central to the story, representing the obstacle that turns battlefield success into a difficult next step.

6. Water, Wreckage, and the Destroyed Sherman Turret

The submerged Sherman turret gives the scene its unmistakable sense of aftermath, making clear that what we are seeing is not only a pause, but the pause that follows violence.

7. Final Detail Views

Additional views showing the scenic depth, finishing work, and overall richness of the composition from secondary angles.
