Measurements & WeightWeight24.1 g0.0241 kg0.85 oz0.053 lb120.5 carats⸻DimensionsLongest side55.49 mm5.55 cm2.18 inches⸻DescriptionThis piece comes from my personal collection, carefully kept as a natural mineral display specimen.“The Silent Spire” is a naturally formed Himalayan quartz cluster from Hashupi, Shigar District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Featuring a towering, highly transparent main crystal, delicate companion points, fine horizontal growth striations, natural mineral coatings, and a richly textured crystalline base, this specimen combines elegant geometry with intricate geological detail.Crystal Structure & FormationThe centerpiece is a slender, high-clarity quartz prism rising prominently above several smaller intergrown crystals. Its elongated hexagonal structure, sharply defined edges, and natural pyramidal termination create an elegant architectural silhouette.A narrow secondary crystal grows closely alongside the main prism, while several shorter points surround its base. Their varied heights form a balanced, sculptural cluster with a distinctive mountain-like appearance. The main crystal is exceptionally clear through its upper section, displaying an icy-white appearance that gradually transitions into soft milky-white and subtle champagne tones near the base.Growth Striations & Surface FeaturesFine horizontal growth striations, often called Akashic-style lines by collectors, extend across the main crystal faces. These delicate parallel markings become particularly visible under angled lighting.Subtle stepped growth features, longitudinal prism edges, and fine surface textures add further complexity. Smooth, glassy faces contrast with naturally striated sections, highlighting the crystal’s growth history. The well-defined termination and closely attached companion crystal create additional geometric depth and overlapping crystal faces.Natural Mineral AssociationsIrregular yellow-orange, amber-brown, and rust-colored mineral coatings are scattered across portions of the transparent quartz. These closely adhering deposits form natural patches and concentrated markings around crystal junctions, creating a beautiful contrast with the clear main prism.Their appearance is consistent with iron-bearing mineral coatings, although the exact mineral species has not been confirmed.Darker rock-matrix material and earthy mineral residues are also visible near the base, preserving the specimen’s natural geological character.Sugary Crystallization & Textured BaseThe lower formation displays fine, sugar-like crystalline textures and densely intergrown microcrystals, giving the base a sparkling, granular appearance. These features resemble secondary crystalline overgrowth and contrast with the smooth, transparent upper prism.Soft milky-white and pale champagne tones blend naturally through the lower crystal formation. The reverse reveals additional small crystal points, frosted growth surfaces, irregular crystalline layers, and mineral-rich areas, offering a more rugged appearance than the clear front-facing prism.Transparency & Optical EffectsThe main crystal exhibits excellent light transmission, allowing illumination to pass through its clear body and reveal subtle internal veils and natural reflections. Its sharply defined faces produce bright highlights, layered reflections, and occasional halo-like optical effects as the viewing angle changes.Localized iridescent reflections may also appear under suitable lighting. The contrast between luminous quartz, delicate growth lines, warm mineral coatings, and textured secondary crystals creates remarkable visual depth.Collector’s Display“The Silent Spire” combines an elegant vertical main point, naturally attached companion crystals, distinct horizontal growth markings, earthy mineral associations, and a complex crystalline foundation. Its high transparency, sculptural proportions, and contrasting surface textures make it a distinctive Himalayan quartz specimen for mineral collectors, natural history displays, and curated crystal collections.
