DwightDavid Eisenhower II(bornMarch 31, 1948), is an American author, public policy fellow, professor attheUniversity of Pennsylvania,andeponymof the U.S. Presidential retreat,Camp David. He is the grandson of the 34th president of theUnited States,Dwight Eisenhower, and theson-in-law of the 37th president of the United States,Richard Nixon. David Eisenhower was born on March 31, 1948,inWest Point,Orange County,New York, to Barbara (Thompson) andJohn Eisenhower, the only son and eldest of four children. Hisfather was a U.S. Army officer, and his grandfather was Dwight D. Eisenhower,future president of the United States of America, and former Supreme AlliedCommander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces in Europe during World War II.Hisfather would go on to be abrigadier generalintheU.S. Army Reserve, UnitedStates Ambassador to Belgium (1969–1971), and a renowned military historian.His grandfather would become president ofColumbia University(1948–1953),and later the 34th president of the United States (1953–1961). After assumingthe presidency in 1953, President Eisenhower named the presidential mountainretreat, formerly Camp Shangri-La, Camp David, after his grandson. Eisenhowergraduated fromPhillips Exeter Academyin1966. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in historycum laudefromAmherst Collegein 1970. After college, he served forthree years as an officer in theUnited States NavalReserve. During this time, he was an officer ontheUSSAlbanyinthe Mediterranean Sea.He then earned hisJ.D.degreecum laudefromThe GeorgeWashington University Law Schoolin 1976.He was at least loosely identified with the Nixon administration, when heaccepted a request to attend the funeral ofDan Mitrionein 1970, the operative whose activities intraining Uruguayan police in torture techniques, when later publicized, causedprofound controversy,although there has been no suggestion thatEisenhower had any knowledge of Mitrione's controversial activities. He istoday a teaching adjunct and public policy fellow at theAnnenberg School for Communicationat theUniversity of Pennsylvania,author,and co-chair of theForeign Policy ResearchInstitute's History Institute for Teachers. From 2001–2003, he waseditor of the journalOrbispublishedby FPRI.Eisenhower was a finalist for thePulitzer Prizein history in 1987 for his workEisenhowerAt War, 1943-1945—about theAlliedleadershipduring World War II. He is the host of a Public Television series calledTheWhole Truth with David Eisenhower, distributed by American PublicTelevision.

Julie Nixon Eisenhower(born July 5, 1948) isan American author who is the younger daughter ofRichard Nixon,37thPresident of the UnitedStates, andPat Nixon,First Lady of the UnitedStates, and is the wife ofDavid Eisenhower, grandsonof President Eisenhower. Born inWashington, D.C., while her father was aCongressman, Julie and herelder sister,Patricia Nixon Cox, grewup in the public eye. Her father was electedU.S. SenatorfromCaliforniawhen she was two andVicePresident of the United Stateswhen she was four. Her 1968marriage toDavid Eisenhower, grandsonof PresidentDwight D. Eisenhower, wasseen as a union between two of the most prominentpoliticalfamilies in the United States. Throughout theNixon administration(1969to 1974), Julie worked as Assistant Managing Editor ofThe Saturday Evening Postwhileholding the unofficial title of "First Daughter." She was widelynoted as one of her father's most vocal and active defenders and was named oneof the "Ten Most Admired Women in America" for four years by readersofGood Housekeepingmagazine in the 1970s. After her fatherresigned from the presidency in 1974, she wrote a biography of her mother,theNew York Timesbest-sellerPat Nixon: The UntoldStory. She continues to engage in works that support her parents' legaciesand is on the board of directors of theRichard Nixon Foundation. Sheis the mother of two daughters,Jennie Eisenhowerand Melanie Catherine Eisenhower, and ason, Alex Eisenhower.
