Six people awaken from stasis aboard a mysterious spacecraft.

They don\'t know their names.

They don\'t know where they\'re going.

And, perhaps most importantly, they don\'t remember who they used to be.

Their search for answers quickly becomes a fight for survival when the ship\'s security system activates and a relentless android begins hunting them.

Forced to work together despite having no reason to trust one another, the crew begins searching the vessel for clues to their identities and mission.

What they uncover only makes things worse.

As the series progresses, buried information leads them toward a remote world and a disturbing revelation about their own pasts. Their questions about who they are gradually become questions about whether they actually want to become those people again.

By issues #3 and #4, revelations surrounding the crew\'s original mission create divisions among them just as outside enemies begin closing in.

Betrayal, identity, redemption and survival collide as the stranded crew faces overwhelming odds and must decide whether their forgotten past should determine their future.

One of the most interesting aspects of Dark Matter for collectors is that the story existed as a comic book before audiences saw it on television.

Creators Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, both longtime writers and producers within the Stargate television franchise, developed Dark Matter as a science-fiction property and brought the story to Dark Horse Comics.

The resulting four-issue miniseries was published in 2012.

Several years later, Dark Matter was adapted into the live-action television series, introducing the mysterious amnesiac crew and their spacecraft to a much larger audience.
