View Larger Image   Oriental Salt/Basalt Figurines   Description: This is a lovely pair of Oriental figurines. I believe the composition is of salt or sometimes called white basalt. It's the type of material, that if you put them in the dishwasher, they dissolve and go down the drain. These can also be used as bookends, perhaps intended that way. Standing 5.5 in. tall and the base is 4 in. long and 3.5-4 in. wide. In very good condition with painted faces and silver look trim on their hats,shoes, and edge of the books they hold. The girls hat does have a couple minor dents,chips?, in the edge of the brim, very smooth, no sharp edges. I believe this type of figurine was very popular in the 30's-50's.
