This is a lot of 2 charming Dutch antiques: The beautiful octagonal antiquetobacco box, 1700-1740, is handmade,engraved,and unique. The quality and delicacy of the inscriptions and the figures are exceptional. This octagonalbox was skillfully fabricated by hand from sheet brass. It is extensively decorated. All sides are decorated. In addition, there are 8 cameos with scenes from the Bible, 4 on the top side of the box and 4 on the bottom. In the 17th through 19th centuries, these were very popular in the Netherlands.The lidcloses firmly to keep the tobacco fresh. They were often, like this one, conveniently pocket-sized. There are examples of tobacco boxes in the Dutch Pipe Museum in Amsterdam. 6 x 2.5 x 1.25 inches. The charming handmade Dutch miniature brass and wood bed warmer is 19th century. It may have been a manquette for the full size one. It has a beautifully designed handle. The lid is decorated with a large engraved and repoussé crested bird, surrounded by 2 circular rows of decorative dots and lines.
