as-is parts lot of 7 chip breakers & 2 Sandusky wood plane irons blades cutters:
$30.00

You are offerding on one lot of 2 plane irons and 7 chip breakers or cap irons as pictured. There are some condition issues, and the widths are random, so please keep reading.

Widths noted below are measured at the sharp or lower edges.

Included are:

front row left to right

--- a chip breaker that is unmarked, and it doesn\'t have the screw. Width is very close to 1-5/8\", length is about 4-3/8\". Some rust and pitting.

--- a chip breaker that is marked with some tiny lettering, and I can\'t make it out. There is an iron cross logo, and I would guess that it is British. It might be a W Butcher, as he used an iron cross logo, but I can\'t get the letters to look like his name. The screw is included. Width is about 2-1/8\", and overall length is about 4-15/16\". Good condition, dings on the edges, no pitting but there is some casting roughness on the back side.

--- a chip breaker that is unmarked. The screw is included but it is frozen in place and doesn\'t want to turn, although I didn\'t put much effort into getting it to turn. Width is about a 32nd under 2\", and overall length is about 4-9/16\". Some scattered areas of heavy rust which will have pitting underneath.

--- a chip breaker with a faint mark that I think is \"BUCK BROS\". The screw is included. Width is about a 32nd under 2\", and overall length is about 4-15/16\". Lots of rust and pitting on both sides.

--- a plane iron that is marked \"SA..................OL CO WARRANTED CAST STEEL\". The top of the mark has been cut off, but it is undoubtedly a SANDUSKY TOOL CO iron. Width is about a 32nd over 2\", and overall length is about 6-11/16\". It is a laminated and tapered iron. Good condition below the bottom of the slot, some light pitting above that on the front, and a bit of heavier pitting about halfway up on the back side. And the top must have been quite peened over, as it still shows signs of that even after being cut or ground down.

--- a plane iron that is marked \"SANDUSKY TOOL CO WARRANTED CAST STEEL\". Width is very close to 2-1/4\", and overall length is about 7-15/16\". It is a laminated and tapered iron. Lots of scattered pitting on both sides, with the heaviest next to the sharp edge.

--- a chip breaker that is marked \"WARD\". The screw is missing. Width is about a 32nd under 2-1/4\", and overall length is about 5-1/8\". Fair condition, with some scattered bits of rust and light pitting, some dings on the back side, and the lower edge is rough.

back row left to right:

--- a chip breaker that is marked \"W BUTCHER SHEFFIELD\" with his arrow and iron cross logo. The screw is missing, but more interestingly the hole is not threaded. Width is about a 32nd under 2-3/8\", and overall length is about 5-3/16\". Some dings on the edges, some scattered little spots of pitting on the front, some rust on the back, and it has a lot of curvature when viewed from either side.

--- and a chip breaker that is not marked. The screw is missing. Width is a hair over 2\", and overall length is about 4-3/16\". Lots of rust and pitting on both sides, with the least near the lower edge on both sides.

That makes a total of 2 irons and 7 chip breakers, of which 3 have screws.

The winner gets all 9 pieces (12 if you count the screws), I\'m not going to split them up.

SHIPPING: 4 pounds when boxed, shipped USPS Ground Advantage which is slower but less expensive, insurance is included. No International shipping.

I sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools and I enjoy photography! The queue is overflowing with tools right now, as they seem to be finding me faster than I can list them. So please keep watching my postings as I have LOTS more to list!

Searching my listings: I have lots to see! Some of you will undoubtedly enjoy browsing through everything, but if you want to hone in on something specific, I suggest you click on the \"Visit Store\" link in Seller Information section in the upper right of this listing. That will lead you to my extensive system of categories.

How to subscribe to my newsletter? Every Friday sends out my newsletter featuring 10 of my most interesting new listings. To subscribe, click the VISIT STORE to go to my store and then click on the heart symbol that is labeled SAVE SELLER. That will automatically get you on the mailing list for the newsletters. They are free, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

ETHICS IN DESCRIPTIONS: I also buy for my collecting on , and I have been burned too many times by misleading (duh did I forget to mention .......) descriptions, and sales with pictures only of the left side because the right side was trashed. Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you offer, and especially before you receive it in the mail. I come from the handshake school of doing business, and hopefully you are like me and understand what that means. What goes around, comes around.

RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn\'t need a return policy. However, that doesn\'t mean that I won\'t make an occasional mistake. Please offer with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you. And if you have made an error, and bought the wrong size, for example, I will still take care of you (but I’ll let you pay the return shipping!).

USPS POSTAGE RATE INCREASES: I use the Post Office for everything, and yes, the shipping charges just keep going up and up. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it\'s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20\" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30\" long, because those longer packages won\'t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights.I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.

SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including . If I ship to a state where is required to collect sales tax, will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don\'t have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don\'t have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to .

SELLING OUTSIDE OF : Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the email system? Please don\'t ask, the answer is no.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada. If you are in Canada, ask for what the shipping would cost, but be prepared for it to be $$$$$.

sales: I won’t end an sale listing early to sell it to you directly. As a buyer, I really dislike going back at the end of an sale to offer, only to discover that the seller had ended the sale early. So I won’t do that for you, or to you.

PACKAGING: Please check my response -- I package well. I figure if you take the time to purchase from me, then I can take the time to package it well, and not just throw it into a cereal box with a scrap of newspaper.

I hope someday I will meet some of you as we trudge the happy road of tool collecting!
