Wonderful clean and neat yearbook from 1920. UofO! Check out that ex Libris nameplate stamp on the inside cover!
The only issue with the book is some soft red discoloring on the upper outer edge of the last few pages. Must have been in contact with something for a short while and transferred a little color. It only really shows from the outside, affecting about 15 pages of the ads in the back section, you can barely see the color while looking at the pages face on. It is less than 1/2 mm in. Last photo shows this.
Besides that there is a piece of white cloth tape on the title page covering two different names in different inks and handwritings.
This book has a story I wish it could tell. Why were there two people named? Why were they covered? One name is actually repeated on the last page “Herbert J Hacher” (?) and his address. I put the page with tape up to the sunlight and the names are fairly legible.
There is a printer/cutter error where the page was folded over when cut, so it opened out larger than the page! Kinda cool and amazing it was left like that and nobody ever ripped it off. I was tempted :)
So it’s a great 103 year old book. Large and heavy around 400 pages…the blacks and greens on the lithograph plates are absolutely stunning. It’s the blackest black I’ve seen in a book and yet somehow no transfer to the opposite pages at all. Amazing.
Spine is solid, no writing/rips/damage I could find and I went through the whole thing about page by page.
