William Jennings Bryan Ephemera 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 envelope 1908 Fairview Home
This is a small 3½ × 3½ inch illustrated souvenir envelope, mailed in 1903, featuring two halftone photographic views associated with “Fairview, Bryan’s Home.” On the front upper panel is a vignette of a large Victorian residence captioned “Fairview, Bryan’s Home,” with a green 1-cent Benjamin Franklin stamp postmarked “Aug 19, 8 AM, 1903,” and addressed in bold period script to “Mrs. J. L. Thurston, 280 So. Park St., Chillicothe, Ohio.” The lower panel shows a second photograph captioned “AT THE ENTRANCE,” depicting a formally dressed man standing on the front steps flanked by carved lion statues, suggesting a proud owner or host. The envelope shows horizontal fold lines, light soiling, and ink bleed consistent with early 20th-century souvenir mail, combining postal history with miniature photographic views of a notable private residence.
