The book was adapted by John Hench from Walt Disney’s 1949 motion picture The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, with illustrations by the Walt Disney Studio.
This is especially desirable for its spectacular full-color John Hench artwork, including full-page and double-page compositions depicting Toad Hall, Mr. Toad, Rat, Mole, MacBadger, Cyril Proudbottom, the courtroom sequence, motorcar scenes and other imagery derived from the Disney production. Hench would become one of Disney’s major artists and Imagineers, and his artwork for this book is now specifically recognized by Disney collectors; original Hench artwork created for the book has even appeared at major animation-art sales.
