WWII Named USMC ID Bracelet Plate – Henry Louis Dickman
► Original WWII sterling silver identification bracelet plate belonging to Henry Louis Dickman, a U.S. Marine rifleman serving with Company E, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division, who was wounded in action during the Battle of Iwo Jima on March 5, 1945, at just 19 years of age.
► Henry was born August 30, 1925, in Baltimore, Maryland. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on March 21, 1944, and following his training at Parris Island and Camp Lejeune, joined the 24th Marines on Maui, Hawaii, in October 1944. His Marine Corps records confirm his assignment to Company E and identify him as a rifleman (MOS 745).
► The original sterling silver bracelet plate bears Henry\'s engraved name and Marine Corps identification, with STERLING stamped on the reverse. Its metal attachment fittings remain at both ends, although the original wristband is missing. The plate retains surface scratches, tarnish, and age-related wear. Photographs of both sides are included in the listing\'s photo gallery.
► On February 19, 1945, Henry landed with his battalion on Yellow Beach 2 during the invasion of Iwo Jima. Over the following two weeks, the Marines fought their way inland toward Airfield No. 2 and into the heavily defended Hill 382 area, part of the notorious battlefield known as the \"Meat Grinder.\" Henry\'s Company E participated in the bitter fighting for Hill 382, where Japanese machine guns, mortars, and fortified positions made every advance costly. Just days later, on March 5, Henry was wounded in action. He survived the battle and eventually returned home to Baltimore.
