Up for sale is a magnificent, 100% authentic World War II United States Naval Reserve Aviation (USNR-A) estate grouping belonging to sailor Donald Hathaway. Discovered together at an estate sale, this highly collectible, named lot provides an incredible, deeply personal archive of a Pacific Theater sailor's wartime service.
The entire lot is being sold together as a single historical archive.
What is Included in This Lot:
1. Engraved ID Bracelet: Features a gold-plated nameplate beautifully engraved with the sailor's name, Donald Hathaway (officially stamped "DONALD -NONE- HATHAWAY" per military protocol to denote no middle name), service number (830-41-94), branch (USNR-A), and enlistment/tetanus date (T-8/43-C). The heavy wrist chain is marked STERLING.
2. Official Regulation USN Dog Tags: A matching set of standard-issue oval World War II U.S. Navy dog tags on their original spring-link neck chain. Both tags are in excellent, clean condition and are officially stamped with his name, service details, and blood type.
3. Original Sailor Portrait Photo: A vintage black-and-white portrait of young Donald Hathaway in his Navy dress uniform, complete with visible service markings.
4. Navy Ribbon Bars: His original campaign and service ribbon bars detailing his theater operations, including the Navy Good Conduct, American Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign (featuring service stars), Philippine Liberation, and WWII Victory ribbons.
5. Ruptured Duck Patch: An original diamond-shaped embroidered U.S. Navy Honorable Discharge insignia patch.
Condition:
All items are in authentic, untouched vintage condition directly from an estate. The sterling silver bracelet chain and the gold-plated nameplate show a rich, genuine historical patina that collectors highly prize. The regulation metal dog tags remain crisp and highly legible. The photograph remains clear with excellent contrast, showing only minor edge curling consistent with age.
This is a spectacular opportunity to own a complete, named WWII naval archive that can be researched further through military history databases.
