Not sure if you know that the USPS got rid of 1st Class shipping and replaced it the new G-Shipping format.
Since then the quality of their service has significantly deteriorated with delivery taking 12 to 21 days (and they keep raising their prices too). This includes packages with tracking numbers or stamped envelopes.
