WWII U.S. Navy Recognition ID Ship Set - Merchant Miniature Ships - by South Salem Studios. This set is in 1/1200 scale. The box is in great condition with no major issues. The ships are all original and come on their original boards. The ships themselves are in really good condition for their age. There are a few chips out of the paint on some of the ships. There are a few bent masts, some rust on a few of the masts and (2) of the ships are missing a small piece (see pictures). Overall this is a very complete set.

These sets were used to train our troops to recognize friendly from foe ships as they sit in the water. This is a rare set depicting merchant ship classes/types belonging to the U.S. this scale of ship was called “student” scale. Larger versions made in 1/500 scale were considered “teacher” scale. A lot of these sets were discarded after the war or the metals were recycled to make other items. Here is your chance to own one of these great pieces of history!
