This is an ashtray from 1946. The Third Infantry Regiment was the main occupying force in Germany after World War II. These souvenir ash trays were made by German artisans, often using scrap airplane aluminum. This shows marks from being hand hammered. At the top it says, \"THIRD INFANTRY REGIMENT\". Below it says, \"BERLIN, GERMANY\". The Old Guard\'s unit crest is stamped on the left. The Berlin coat of arms is stamped on the right.
