For sale is an authentic World War I brass trench art vase crafted from a 75mm field gun artillery shell casing.
The front body features an expertly hand-hammered stippled texture background highlighting a raised, stylized capital \"R\" enclosed inside a diamond border. In the context of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) Service of Supply network, this marking signifies a Regulating Station or Railhead logistics detachment responsible for moving critical troop and supply trains to the front lines.
Base Markings:
The flat bottom of the casing features highly legible, stamped American factory headstamp marks including \"75 mm F G\" alongside \"BHCO\", confirming manufacture by the historic Bridgeport Brass Company (Bridgeport, CT).
Condition Notes:
The shell retains its beautiful, deep, uncleaned dark aged patina. Please note there is a prominent vertical metal split/crack running along the right border of the stippled diamond crest as pictured. Also light exterior cracking in quite a few other areas as pictured. The metal structure remains rigid. This is a highly compelling piece of US military logistics history. Sold as-is. Please review all photos carefully before offerding.
