WWI Posted 1914 Le Havre Port Royal Horse Artillery Antique Postcard London
Step right into history with this beautifully preserved antique postcard—more than just paper, this is a moment frozen in time.
The crisp circular postmark ties this piece directly to the era of World War I, a period when every letter carried weight, emotion, and urgency. Seeing a clearly struck cancellation like this is always exciting—it’s a tangible confirmation that this card truly traveled during one of the most pivotal times in modern history.
A quick bit of light research immediately opens doors: the recipient, “Malcolm W. Niven ---- ”, located at 3 Cornwall Terrace, Regent’s Park, London NW, gives you a very real starting point. That’s not just an address—that’s prime London real estate, and a name that can potentially be traced through census records, military rolls, or family archives. This is exactly the kind of piece genealogists and history hunters love.
Now, while it’s tempting to go down the rabbit hole (and you absolutely should!), I always encourage buyers to do their own deep dive. The thrill of discovery is part of the value here—you may uncover connections, stories, or even descendants that bring this postcard to life in ways no listing ever could.
From the elegant handwriting to the international route (noted “Angleterre”), this card has all the ingredients: wartime usage, identifiable recipient, and real research potential. Whether you’re a collector, historian, or genealogist, this is more than an acquisition—it’s an invitation.
Own the mystery. Trace the story. Bring the past back to life.
