Up for sale is an exceptional, 100% authentic Imperial German World War I 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class (EK2). This specific piece features a highly desirable and crisp "A" maker's stamp cleanly struck onto the suspension ring, identifying it as an official issue from the prestigious firm of F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid.
This medal has been fully vetted against strict collector guidelines and possesses the following authentication hallmarks:
• Magnetic Core Test: Passed. Features a genuine three-piece construction with a ferrous iron center.
• UV / Blacklight Test: Passed. The included 70mm historic ribbon is completely UV negative, confirming it is an authentic organic textile free of modern synthetic fibers.
• Dimensions: Measures exactly 44 mm across, adhering strictly to standard wartime military specifications.
Condition Report:
The cross is in excellent, untouched historic condition. The blackened iron core retains nearly all of its original dark finish with no major bubbling or rust. The silver-plated outer frame displays a beautiful, uncleaned natural age patina and crisp ribbing along the borders.
