RARE! WW2 US NAVY RESCUE AND SALVAGE SHIP USS EXTRACTOR ARS-15 SUNK BY FRIENDLY FIRE REVISEDARRANGEMENTMAIN DECKHOUSE BLUE PRINT DATED MARCH 4,1944.


WW2 US NAVY ANCHOR-CLASS RESCUE AND SALVAGE SHIP USS EXTRACTOR ARS-15 SUNK BY FRIENDLY FIRE TORPEDO FROM DECKHOUSE BLUE PRINTMARCH 4,1944.

( On 3 December 1944 the USS Extractor ARS-15 steamed to Guam, reporting for duty with Service Squadron 12 with which she served until 21 January 1945 when she departed unescorted for the Philippine area. She was underway on the morning of 24 January when, through mistaken identification by U.S.Navy submarine USSGuardfish(SS-217), the latter fired a torpedo which struckExtractor's starboard side. The salvage ship capsized and sank at within 5 minutes. Six sailors died and the remainder rescued byGuardfish. )
