You are offerding on an EXCELLENT relic example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Daimler-Benz DB605 Exhaust Stub! This is a genuine wartime exhaust component from the iconic DB601 and DB605 inverted V12 engine! These weremost commonly associated with the MesserschmittMe109 series of fighter aircraft, as well asthe Me110, Me210, He111, and others! Sadly, I do not have any loss history.
The Daimler-Benz DB601 and DB605engine were most important German aero engines of the Second World War, entering service in 1935. They powered the majority of late-war Messerschmitt Me109 variants, including the F, G, and K series, and was also utilized in twin-engine aircraft such as the He111, Me110 and Me210/410. The engine featured direct fuel injection and advanced supercharging for its time, allowing for improved high-altitude performance and combat effectiveness. A distinctive feature of DB 605-powered aircraft was the use of ejector-style exhaust stubs, which not only expelled engine gases but also contributed a small amount of additional thrust. These exhaust stacks became visually iconic, especially on the Me109, where their shape and arrangement were integral to both performance and recognition. Due to extreme operating temperatures and combat conditions, original exhaust components were subject to significant wear, making surviving examples highly desirable artifacts from Germany’s late-war aviation production.
