WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT? (1988)
ORIGINAL BABY HERMAN KEY FRAME PRODUCTION DRAWING WITH PROVENANCE
"Thanks, toots!""
For sale here is a classic piece of authentic Disneyana depicting one of the breakout characters from a classic film.
Released on June 22, 1988, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?was a multi-studio blend of live action and animation, and a love story to the heyday of classic animated cartoons, renewing interest in them and ushering in a renaissance of modern day animated films. It won three competitive Aacdemy Awards for editing, sound and visual effects, and was awarded a Special Achievement Award. It has been added to the National Film Registry for preservation as a culturally significant piece of American history.
Among the many beloved breakout original characters the film introduced, was the absolutely hilarious, wise cracking, Brooklynite, Baby Herman, whose popularity was so immense that he proceeded to be the co-star of several animated shorts later with Roger.
He is presented here during the scene when his nursemaid is lighting his stogie, as he speaks to Eddie Valiant, rendered in blue pencil on an enormous 16 field animation sheet. The frame is numbered 45 and circled, indicating its designation as a key frame by the artist,Dino Athanassiou, whose notations and signature also appear on the frame.
Dino Athanassiou, is an over 40 year animation veteran whose work includes assistant directing Fern Gully, storyboarding films like Prince of Persia, and serving as lead animator on classics like Space Jam, Hunger Games and Teen Titans Go! His work on Roger Rabbit exists among the earliest work of his extensive and ongoing career.
Along with the piece, the buyer will receive a certificate of authenticity direct from Dino's company Stardust Pictures, as well as his handwritten notes, all signed by the artist.
The piece is in very good condition with the usual minor production handling wear and peghole reinforcement
This is an opportunity to own an absolute gem for any Disney collector, Roger Rabbit or film fan. A major character from one of the most important and influential animated films ever made and a wonderfully expressive moment notated on the drawing as a key piece directly by the artist who drew it. A treasure.
