Vintage 'OLD CHELSEA' Set 18 Pc [6 Trio Sets] Teacup Saucer Plates F. WINKLE CO. Octagonal

Circa 1908-1925

INCREDIBLY RARE SET- almost impossible to find especially in such fabulous condition!

This type of set is known as a 'Tea Trio' traditionally for a cup of tea and a piece of cake, etc

This 18 piece set includes:

6 cups with 6 matching saucers, saucers have indent in center for cup.6 luncheon plates which are also a perfect size for dessert service.

Size measurements:

Cup Size Approx. 2.25" tall x 3 5/8" across, base is 2"

Saucer 5 5/8" across with a circle indent in center for cup

Luncheon/dessert plate is 8.75" across

Fantastic for a special tea, luncheon or dessert service.

These pieces have completely hand painted coloration and feature a magnificent exotic bird in the center of each plate, plus the bird on the inside of the teacup. Flowers are on the opposite inner side of the teacup. Cups also have a very wide floral border on the outside. White background shading towards light cream.

There is a lovely circular border rim of lemon yellow.

Octagonal shape to plates and also a slightly rounded octagonal shape to cups- cups have a round rim at top

Gold trim at rims and down edges of cup handles

These are handmade in England and are fabulously done. They are marked on the back as WHIELDON WARE with a hand painted orange number of 8100 12.

Excellent antique condition- one cup has a very shallow SMALL flake off edge of rim at top. Tiny and hard to notice, see last pic. Two cups have slightly beige crazing in center of the inside of cup. See last 2 pics. Minor light crazing throughout glaze on all pieces which is not darkened and hard to notice, normal for age. No nicks chips cracks scratches wear or repair to any of the 18 pieces. No fading, richly colored, glossy, hand painted design without wear. See all pics and use zoom.
