Highly collectible, authentic mid-century Alaskan Native souvenir doll, dating back to the post-war travel boom of the 1950s to 1960s. This piece is an excellent example of authentic Arctic tourist trade handicraft from the era. Features a soft-stuffed body dressed in a cream-colored, naturally tanned hide (buckskin/caribou) dress with matching fringed shoulder detailing. The front features vibrant, hand-stitched glass seed beads spelling out "ALASKA" in cobalt blue across the waist, complemented by a delicate pink and white beaded floral crest on the chest. Adorned with a bright orange wool felt headdress/trim and matching orange felt mittens. Stands approximately 9.5 inches tall (as shown next to the measuring scale in photos). This doll is in very good vintage condition considering its age. The leather dress remains supple with no major tears or dry rotting. The beadwork is tightly secured with no missing letters. There is minor, expected aging to the felt and hide edges, adding to its authentic mid-century character. Please review all high-resolution photos for exact cosmetic condition.
