Up for sale is a rare antique metal postage stamp holder and stamps from the late 19th century. This clever mechanical pocket accessory was designed to protect and dispense postage stamps. It features a unique sliding drawer mechanism that reveals the stamp Embossed with "C & D EAST" in a decorative border.
Inside Slide: Stamped with "MADE BY / MIDLAND / SUPPLY CO." and the May 1888 patent date (originally designed by J.H. Breese of condition. The metal shows a natural aged patina and minor surface wear consistent with its 100+ year history. The mechanical sliding drawer is still functional. Please refer to all photos as they are the best representation of the physical condition. Does come with stamps. The stamps came in the holder originally when I had bought.
