Vtg Hand Carved FROG FIGURINE 2.5\" Marbled Alabaster/Onyx NON-GLOSS UNPOLISHED

Natural Finish

Size 2.5\" long x .75\" high x 1.5\" wide

Features a charming hand carved frog made from a solid piece of alabaster stone.

Stone has a natural coloration of creamy warm ivory with very pronounced veining and marbling, which has been cleverly lined up by the artist to go straight down his middle/spine area. He is opaque, but light can pass through a few areas when held up to a light source.

Hand carved detailing

This piece is VERY UNUSUAL in that it has NOT been polished to a smooth glossy \'mirror\' finish- it has been left with a smooth finish but without any treatment to the stone. This feels wonderful in the hand, and is said to be best for communicating with the stone\'s properties

A wonderful pose with head held high. He\'s quite a distinguished looking frog.

These were mainly made in the 1960s and 1970s in Mexico and South America

Excellent condition, but he\'s got some slight rub wear to the 2 round dots of black paint on his eyes which is quite minor. Normal for age and being handled [see last pic]. Could easily be touched up with a marker or a dab of paint. No nicks chips dings breaks or repairs. See all pics and use zoom.

A marvelous piece for a collector or frog lover, he will look superb on display... he is a gem.
