Folkwear is/was known for their high quality historical and ethnic designs. This is a great Poets Shirt for either men or women
Bit of History...
This shirt was designed to capture the spirit of the 1820's and 1830's a truly romantic era. It was inspired by the open collar shirts worn by legendary Romantic poets like Lord Bryon, Percy Bysshe Shelley and John Keats who abandoned the high collars in favor of this more romantic style (kind of an artistic rebellion)
The Pattern...
1 - True cut to historic constructions techniques, all of the pattern pieces are rectangle except for the neck facing. It has full voluminous sleeves with comfortable underarm gussets that gather at the shoulder with a front slit opening
2 - Can be styled in two ways - a clean plain collar and tailored narrow cuffs or you can a a dramatic romantic ruffle at the collar
3 - This has Unisex sizing for adults small, medium and large
The pattern is uncut and still factory folded but the envelope shows some age appropriate vintage wear with some edge creasing and storage marks (also has a mailing sticker on the front)

Between the 70's and 80; California experienced a pattern boom where original era patterns were very popular. It was considered folk art you could wear - this pattern is from 1982
