Up for sale is a rare piece of vintage mid-century advertising and Poconos resort memorabilia! This is an authentic 1960s/1970s molded styrofoam boater / skimmer hat from the famous Country Surrey Inn's "Gay Nineties Pub," which was located on Lake Gouldsboro in Gouldsboro, PA. This hat is an excellent local historical crossover piece, proudly stamped on the inner crown underside by the legendary manufacturer: "J HATS - MADE IN U.S.A. - SCRANTON." These promotional hats were given out or sold as souvenirs during the inn's popular old-time sing-alongs. It makes a wonderful piece for collectors of roadside Americana, restaurant/bar advertising, Poconos resort history, or as a fun, kitschy addition to an LGBTQ+ novelty collection!Condition Details (Please Read & See Photos):
- Foam Body: The white styrofoam structure is in excellent, solid shape with no cracks, crushing, or missing chunks.
- Interior: Features the original elastic chin strap still fully intact. There are handwritten initials ("GB") in ink on the inside brim.
- Paper Band: The front lettering is crisp and vibrant. Note that the back of the paper band shows paper loss and a horizontal tear where tape or an old price tag was previously removed (clearly shown in the photos). Please review all photos closely for exact condition details before offerding/buying. Ships securely packaged in a sturdy box to prevent any damage or crushing in transit.
