This vintage shield-shaped union pin badge is an original 1943 World War II-era piece from Dodge Local No. 3 (UAW-CIO). The face features a tiered layout with a blue enameled upper banner reading "DODGE LOCAL NO. 3", a central gold-wash tier boldly stamped "UAW-CIO", and a red enameled downward triangle at the base enclosing the year "1943". The obverse presents sharp lettering with fine hairline surface scratches and minor age-appropriate scuffs within the enamel fills.
The reverse side reveals a raw gold-wash finish over a solid silver base, explicitly incised with the "STERLING" purity stamp curving along the lower edge. It features a vertical pin stem resting inside a fully intact, early-style drop-in safety catch mechanism. The back is heavily detailed with two separate stamped union emblems, including a distinct circular union label and an "MP/IJ" shield insignia. It shows localized dark patina, light contact scratches, and faint grey solder remnants tracking along the upper hinge plate.
