Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible, and fully intact 1940s vintage Sheaffer fountain pen and mechanical pencil set. This set features the iconic golden-brown alternating striped design with exceptional color clarity and depth. Complete with its original Sheaffer's hard clamshell presentation box.
Set Components & Condition Details
Sheaffer Lifetime 1000 Fountain Pen: Nib: Spectacular 14K two-tone Sheaffer Lifetime Triumph conical (conical-style) gold nib. The tines are straight, even, and sharp.
Body & Imprint:
Golden brown striated body. Cap has a gold-filled clip with Sheaffer's famous "White Dot" lifetime guarantee mark. The barrel imprint is crisp and fully legible, marked with the "1000" pricing code
Filling System: Structural plunger/vacuum-fill system is fully intact and complete.
Sold as vintage untreated/unrestored; the internal rubber seals may require professional lubing/replacement to reliably hold ink.
Sheaffer 400 Mechanical Pencil:
Functionality:
100% complete but not working. We have unsuccessfully attempted to remove the 40 years old lead. The twist mechanism appears to be intact operates smoothly but does not propel and retract lead. Currently loaded with standard 0.5 mm lead.
Body & Imprint:
Matching brown striated pattern with clean gold-filled center band. Barrel includes a matching clear factory imprint marked with the "400" code.
Original Sheaffer's Clamshell Case: Deep brown textured faux-gator/leatherette exterior with a clean cream satin and ribbed velvet lining. Hinges snap cleanly. Shows only very light shelf wear consistent with age.
