Rare 1940s Lincoln Factory Executive Service Course Archive
Direct Provenance to the Goodyear Plant – Akron, Ohio (The Rubber Capital)
Up for sale is an incredibly rare, museum-quality industrial history archive from the mid-1940s. This is a complete Lincoln Factory Executive Service correspondence training course published by the Lincoln Extension Institute, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio (Copyright 1945).
What elevates this specific collection from an ordinary vintage book set into a one-of-a-kind historical archive is its immaculate, unbroken provenance to the peak of Akron, Ohio's rubber manufacturing boom.
The "Smoking Gun" Historical Provenance Included:
Unlike most surviving textbook sets, this collection includes the original official completion letter addressed to the student, Mr. F.H. Farrell. The letter explicitly states that Mr. Farrell successfully passed the modern factory management course and confirms that his official results were forwarded directly to the Goodyear plant here in Akron, Ohio.
What’s Included in This Ultimate Lot:
• The Complete Book Set: Multiple pristine, deep maroon textured hardcovers with gold/blind-embossed titles (including titles like The Foreman—His Personality, General Factory Control, and Industrial Shop Mathematics).
• The Original Supplemental Ephemera: Includes the official Lincoln Study Guide, "Thinketh As A Man" instructional pamphlets, grading cards, and test sheets.
• The Original Cardboard Mailers: Most individual volumes are housed in its original corrugated cardboard shipping box, complete with vintage 1940s postage stamps, postmarks, and red-inked Cleveland/Akron shipping labels addressed to Mr. Farrell on Parkwood Ave.
Several are never opened, still completely sealed.
Condition Report:
Outstanding Vintage Condition. Because these volumes remained sealed inside their original individual protective shipping mailers for approximately 80 years, the books themselves are exceptionally crisp. The covers show rich color with bold lettering, the bindings are tight, and the internal pages are clean with no heavy foxing or severe wear. The cardboard mailing boxes and paper ephemera show expected light age-toning and shelf wear from decades of storage but are fully intact with beautiful, clear postal markings.
This is an absolute must-have for collectors of WWII-era industrial history, tire and rubber corporate heritage, labor management ephemera, or local Akron/Ohio history.
