Up for sale is a beautiful, 100% original 1938 Charlie McCarthy die-cut cardboard mechanical puppet. This scarce vintage advertising premium was originally distributed as a mail-in promotional item by Chase & Sanborn Coffee during the height of Edgar Bergen\'s iconic radio popularity.Lithographed in the U.S.A. by Ketterlinus ( N.Y.), this piece features a unique jointed waist allowing Charlie to \"sit\" on a shelf edge, alongside a fully intact rear sliding-tab mechanism that operates his moving eyes and mouth.Condition:
Excellent, crisp vintage condition for its age. The lithograph colors remain incredibly bright and vibrant. Crucially for collectors, the mechanical paper joints and pull-tabs on the reverse side are complete, structurally strong, and fully functional with NO torn joints and NO amateur tape repairs. Shows only minor, expected vintage patina/foxing spots on his white vest near the buttons, slight seperation of the carboard layers in 2 spots and faint edge scuffing on the top hat brim as clearly shown in the close-up photosMeasurements:
Measures approximately 21\" in lengthShipping Note:
To preserve its excellent condition, this item will be shipped completely FLAT, securely sandwiched between two rigid layers of heavy corrugated cardboard to prevent any bending or folding in transit.
