Vintage 1931 Mickey Walker Jack Sharkey Boxing Original Press Photo 8x10 B&W

[Used]: Original vintage black-and-white gelatin-silver press photograph on single-weight paper showing typical age-related handling wear and light curl to the sheet. Front image surface has mild gloss scuffing, a faint diagonal crease near the upper right corner, slight waviness along the upper and lower margins, and soft edge and corner wear but no tears or paper losses. Reverse side shows overall toning, scattered small smudges, adhesive staining beneath and around the attached caption strip near the lower edge, red pencil editorial marks, and multiple agency, archive, and dealer stamps, while the photo paper remains sound and suitable for careful handling or display.

Original vintage black-and-white gelatin-silver press photograph on single-weight paper from 1931, showing a shirtless boxer in gloves seated on a simple wooden chair between two corner men on an outdoor training platform with a crowd of spectators gathered in the background.

The composition centers the fighter in boxing trunks and high-laced boots, flanked by one man in a striped suit with a polka dot tie leaning in from the left and another in a rolled-sleeve shirt and checked trousers supporting his arms from the right, while blurred onlookers in hats and summer clothing fill the distance, evoking a lively training camp atmosphere.

The reverse side carries the original attached typed caption strip from International Newsreel headed PLANNING SHARKEY'S WATERLOO, which credits Mickey Walker, former middleweight champion, together with his manager Jack Kearns and trainer Ted Hayes at Walker's training quarters in Orangeburg, New York, preparing for his bout with Jack Sharkey on July 22, 1931; the caption header also includes the reference number 582956 and an internal date code N-7-16-31.

Additional markings on the verso include a faint red International News Photos copyright and credit stamp, a Cleveland News reference room archive stamp dated 1931, red pencil editorial marks circling the fighter's name, and a later rubber stamp from Collector's Corner, Cleveland, Ohio.

The print shows medium contrast with good detail and typical age-related handling wear, including mild surface scuffing, light edge and corner wear, a faint crease near the upper right corner, slight waviness to the margins, and toning with adhesive staining around the caption strip on the back, but the photo paper remains intact and flexible. This listing is for the single loose original photograph shown, unmounted and unframed, ideal for collections of boxing history, Mickey Walker and Jack Sharkey ephemera, or early twentieth-century sports press photography.
