for sale is an incredibly scarce piece of industrial railroadiana: an original 1920s- 1930s corporate advertising paperweight for the Ogle Construction Company of Chicago, Illinois.
During the golden age of steam, the Ogle Construction Company was a premier engineering firm contracted by major North American railroads to build massive concrete and steel locomotive coaling stations, ash handlers, and sanding plants.
Design & Manufacturer Details:
This exceptionally detailed piece depicts a multi-track railway coaling tower, complete with an overhead storage bin, side dump house, chutes, and molded rail lines crossing the base.
The bottom reveals it was beautifully cast in heavy metal by the historic A.C. Rehberger Company (AC Chicago) foundry. It features the signature hollow-core bottom design with a manufactured cooling/vent hole. This was intentionally designed as a premium desk paperweight rather than a coin bank.
Condition Notes:
- Authentic Toning: The metal features a highly desirable, untouched dark patina with age-appropriate minor surface wear and oxidation built up over the decades.
- Structural Integrity: Excellent structural condition with no cracks, breaks, repairs, or missing structural elements. Details remain crisp. A hard to come by piece of Chicago railroad history!
